Sean T. Smith


Senior Vice President, CFO


Sean T. Smith was promoted to Senior Vice President in 2005.  Prior to his current position he was elected as the Company's Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2002 after initially serving as the Company?s Corporate Controller.

Since assuming the Chief Financial Officer position, Mr. Smith has lead the finance team to work closely with each of the Company?s departments by focusing attention on three key areas that have been essential in broadening its competitive position.

These include strengthening Photronics? financial position; partnering with operations management and support functions to streamline the global manufacturing network that improves the Company?s ability to generate free cash flow; and raising capital in support of a global strategic investment plan to enhance Photronics? capabilities required to support technology driven customers.

Mr. Smith?s vision and ability to orchestrate strategic activities across Photronics? global organization were critical in two separate streamlining initiatives that resulted in the successful consolidation of facilities in Europe and North America.

Furthermore, his vast experience in working with both commercial and investment bankers led to the mutually beneficial renegotiation of the Company?s $100 million multi-currency credit facility and the successful placement of $150 million in convertible securities. The results of these actions enabled the Company to further strengthen its focus on customer service and deliver technological excellence.

Prior to joining Photronics, Mr. Smith was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Carvel Corporation. In addition to his experience at Carvel, Mr. Smith served as Controller and Chief Accounting Officer for Starter Corporation, a publicly held apparel-licensing firm, as well as 12 years of public accounting experience with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young.

Mr. Smith is a Certified Public Accountant who graduated with honors from Quinnipiac College in Hamden, Connecticut where he has since returned and served as an adjunct faculty member.

S.H. Jeong


President, Asia, COO


S.H. Jeong joined Photronics in 2001 as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company?s majority interest Korean subsidiary, PKL Limited.

In 1995, Mr. Jeong founded PKL Limited, a spin-off from Anam Semiconductor where as Vice President he was responsible for establishing Anam?s internal photomask manufacturing operation in 1993.

In his current position, Mr. Jeong is responsible for all manufacturing and sales activities in Asia. His engineering and technology development background also enable him to work closely with Photronics? global R&D team to insure that advanced reticle fabrication technologies smoothly transition into volume manufacturing.

Over the course of his 23 year career, Mr. Jeong has played leadership roles in establishing other photomask manufacturing operations in South Korea, including those of DuPont Photomask and Samsung.

Mr. Jeong lives in Seoul, South Korea with his family. He holds a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from Kyung Book University.

Chris Progler


Chief Technology Officer


Dr. Christopher J. Progler was elected Vice President and Chief Technology Officer in 2004, after initially serving as the Company?s first Chief Scientist.

In this new position, Dr. Progler has primary responsibility for Photronics technology strategy and core technology assets including intellectual property, next generation developments and emerging technology partnerships.

Prior to joining Photronics, Dr. Progler held a number of technical and management positions with leading integrated circuit companies including IBM, Texas Instruments and ST Microelectronics. His collected work in R&D and advanced manufacturing over the past 17 years has yielded major advances at leading semiconductor and infrastructure supplier companies.

In recognition of his contributions to semiconductor lithographic sciences and publications, Dr. Progler was elected Fellow of SPIE- The International Society for Optical Engineering. Dr. Progler is also member of the Board of Directors of SPIE and serves on a number of leadership committees associated with the organization. He is Associate Editor for SPIE Journal of Microlithography and helped launch a number of new technical Symposia including the first Microlithography Symposium in Beijing China in 2004.

Dr. Progler serves on a number of corporate and consortia advisory boards, in addition to several working groups serving the semiconductor industry. He has held University Mentor positions through the Semiconductor Research Corp. and is visiting lecturer at University of Texas at Dallas in the Electrical Engineering graduate program. He is frequent invited speaker and panelist at semiconductor industry events and has published over 70 papers in the semiconductor field along with numerous patents.

Dr. Progler graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Optics from the University of Rochester and received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Zafar Ahmad


Vice President, Europe and North America


With over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, Mr. Ahmad was Elected as Vice President, Europe in 2004.  Previously serving as Vice President, North America he has also held positions as Site Director at Photronics? Austin, Texas and Manchester, UK facilities.

During his tenure with the Company, he has assembled an impressive list of accomplishments, which include directing the installation and qualification of 130nm process technology and its integration into manufacturing at the Austin site.

At the Manchester site, his experience with advanced technology manufacturing was crucial to successfully installing the Company?s European 130 nanometer and below tool and processes and ascertaining customer qualifications at and below 120 nanometers. This enabled Photronics to become the first European photomask supplier to offer Embedded Attenuated Phase Shift Mask (EAPSM) and process capabilities and establish Photronics as the leading edge mask manufacturing facility in Europe.

Prior to joining Photronics, Mr. Ahmad served as Manufacturing Manager at Samsung?s start-up wafer fab in Austin. In addition, Mr. Ahmad held various manufacturing positions of increasing responsibility at Texas Instruments for 25 years. Mr. Ahmad holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Houston.

Nicholas N. Colonese


Vice President, Corporate Controller


Nicholas Colonese joined Photronics in 2001 as Vice President, Corporate Controller. In this strategically important role, he works extensively with the Company’s senior and operating management teams to insure that the Company maximizes the utilization of its financial assets in meeting the Company’s strategic goals. His global financial reporting responsibilities include SEC and management reporting, financial planning and analysis, global cost containment, and establishing and maintaining global financial policies and procedures.

With over twenty years of broad-based financial experience, Mr. Colonese joined Photronics after holding positions of increasing scope and responsibility at Ernst & Young. As a Principal for the firm, he was responsible for planning and supervising audits for numerous manufacturing and other companies. Additionally, he was frequently called on to counsel clients in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, internal controls, loan covenant compliance and tax provisions. Mr. Colonese received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has also served as chairman of a funds distribution committee for the United Way of Greater New Haven and is a member of Leadership Greater Hartford.

Scott Gish


Vice President Global Sales and Business Development


Scott Gish joined Photronics in January 2006 in the position of Vice President Global Sales and Business Development. In his role, Scott has responsibility for global sales strategy, customer relationship management and business development.

Scott joined Photronics from Veeco Instruments, where he served as Vice President of Sales since 2003. During his tenure, he successfully implemented strategic account management methodologies that enabled the company to achieve record sales levels in the data storage industry. Prior to Veeco, Mr. Gish had been promoted through a variety of sales and product marketing positions of increasing responsibility within the semiconductor industry at Axcelis Technologies and within Schlumberger?s automatic test equipment division

Scott earned his Masters of Business Administration degree from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas and his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio.

Joseph E. Roche


Vice President, Supply Chain Management


Joseph Roche joined Photronics in 2001 as Director of Purchasing. During this time he developed cost reduction programs that have resulted in significant savings on materials, equipment and service purchases. He has also re-organized the global purchasing group and re-engineered workflows including e-requisitions, e-procurement and an expanded procurement card program, all resulting in improved efficiencies.

Prior to joining Photronics Mr. Roche spent 23 years at Unilever Home and Personal Care USA where he held many positions. These positions included Internal Auditor, Logistics Accounting Manager, R&D Controller, Commercial Manager, Purchasing Manager and Director, Purchasing & Technology.
Mr. Roche received his Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Bridgeport and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Quinnipiac College. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and a member of the Connecticut Society of CPA’s.

PJ Shurick


Vice President, Human Resources


P.J. Shurick has been working with high technology companies in the area of Human Resources for over twenty years.? In addition to broad Human Resource experience, she has earned specialization in employee relations, training and development.? Prior to rejoining Photronics in her current position, Ms. Shurick held positions with similar responsibilities at Wentworth Laboratories and National Semiconductor.

She previously served Photronics as Corporate Human Resources Manager, establishing a Company-wide training and development function, and supervising site HR personnel responsible for all site-related generalist areas.

Ms. Shurick earned a BA in English from the University of Missouri and is a Certified trainer. She is a member of the American Society for Training and Development and the Society of Human Resource Management.
